of services. Fees typically include charges for set up and annual
administration, asset-based charges such as investment advisory
fees, distribution expenses and mortality and expense risk charges,
and sales charges (either front-end or back-end loads). Investment
alternatives usually include mutual funds and insurance company
separate accounts.
